A Hundred Thousand Million Stars!

Our galaxy has more than 100 thousand million stars. Here are some of the interesting facts about stars.

PSR J0002+6216

We’re not sure where it is going, but this star travels at a lightning-fast speed of 1,130 kilometres per second!


This star is about to go supernova (explode). When it does, it will release more energy in 10 seconds than the Sun could in 10 billion years.

HD 140283 or the Methuselah star 

This star is so old that it is believed to be older than the universe itself! This star is believed to be around 14.5 billion years old.

HD 101065 or Przybylski’s Star

This star rotates at an extremely slow pace – it rotates once every 188 years!
