Do you know how big the largest gold coin in the world is?
Well, it is 20 centimetres wide and weighs about 10 kg!
The Royal Mint has been making coins for the United Kingdom for more than 1000 years now. And recently, it has created a stunning work of art – the biggest gold coin of all time.
It took about 400 hours and precisely 16 days to create this masterpiece!
An expression of efficient craftsmanship, this notable coin concludes the Queen’s Beast coin collection. The series was inspired by the statues that adorned the Queen’s route to Westminster Abbey at her coronation.
Each statue is of an animal and has a historical meaning. This giant coin has united all the ten animals in a single design: a lion, griffin, falcon, bull, yale, greyhound, dragon, unicorn and horse.
